Grand Rapids Perl Mongers - Coming up Friday 28th

What:

We will be participating in a group coding Kata, transforming "The Factory"

into a coding dojo.  The Kata practiced will be doing PragDave's Kata number 4, it may be helpful to practice, but not required.  Please bring a laptop if you have one available, we will be practicing in pairs so do not worry if you have no laptop.

"Monroe Center 2 Ramp" looks good if you are just coming for the meeting, the lot between Ottawa, Ionia, Louis and Monroe center features first hour free and $1.00 per half hours after however there is no daily max.  See the link above for more options and directions.

May be card only "Arena Area Lot 3" looks great for all day with a $3.00 daily max.  Expect it to fill up quick it is located near Fulton and Weston.

May be card only The "Ottawa & Fulton Ramp" between Ottawa, Ionia, Fulton and Louis seems good if you will be there all day and the Arena Lot 3 is full ($9.00 max).

Hopefully this helps, but I usually end up circling around several times, get irritated and find the next thing I see.

Grand Rapids Perl Mongers, October 2010

Two Grand Rapids Perl Mongers meetings in a row!

Thank you to Priority Health for sponsoring the food.  Thank you to the attendees for chipping in on the venue.

It was good to see everyone again.  Thank you to Tod for presenting a lot of good information about Devel::Cover with details on how it was integrated into an existing project. 

It was also interesting to learn so much about buttons, quite fascinating in fact.
 
 We have made plans extending into 2011 here are some of the preliminary details:

November 19, 2010 at Priority Health (pending reservation)  David Hoppe presents ??? watch the list for details.

December 30, 2010 (Thursday) Social meeting at a restaurant, with proposed round table discussion on "Real World Perl" discuss what you use Perl for at work, life and play.  This meeting may be a later meeting (with the idea being skip work the rest of the year), be sure to watch the list for details.

January 28, 2011 at The Factory - Real time Kata practice.  We will work either as a group or in pairs to run through a Kata.  This will be great way to kick off the year.

Grand Rapids Perl Mongers meeting.

Just had our first Grand Rapids Perl Mongers meeting in over a year.  It was great to see many familiar faces.  It was good to meet all the people who came for the first time. 

Matt Huesser gave a ton of good information about quick ways to test applications.  Also tips on getting the best rates for parking at the airport, park for six year and get the seventh free!!

The next meeting has been scheduled for October 29 where we will hear about Devel::Cover.  The venue for the next meeting will depend on the number of participants, "The Factory" worked great today, but if we get a better turn out we may have to look elsewhere.
